Biography
Natalie works as a Paediatric Emergency Physician at a tertiary hospital in Melbourne. She became involved in lifesaving as a ten-year old junior and has been an active, patrolling lifesaver for over forty years. In 1989 Natalie became the first female to be awarded the SLSA Australian Surf Life Saver of the year. That was followed by a period as an elite athlete, racing at three world championships and the 1996 Atlanta Olympics in the Australian Sprint Canoe/Kayak Team.
Natalie’s previous roles include positions on the Australian and New Zealand Committee on Resuscitation and the First Aid Task Force of the International Committee on Resuscitation, involved in the guideline evidence review and writing process. Having handed those roles over to new leaders in the life saving field, Natalie continues to contribute to the conversations and work of the SLSA and ILS medical advisory committees, plus volunteers to provide medical advice and support to the Australian Lifesaving Team’s athletes and management.
