The ILS has established a Medical Fellowship in 2006 in honour of Dr Ian Mackie, a world renowned water safety expert.

The fellowship allows an active young lifesaver/lifeguard to participate in ILS Medical Committee meetings in order to foster input and dissemination of Medical Committee matters at the critical working lifesaver/lifeguard level.

The fellowship is for a 4 year period.
